Forty years and a day after his famous father played his last match at Wimbledon, Leo Borg tasted the winning premiere on the London grass. The 18-year-old son of the Swedish five-time champion Björn Borg started the Wimbledon junior with a 6: 3, 6: 7, 6: 0 victory over Serbian tennis player Mark Top.

“I know Dad has played here many times and won titles. It’s great to play here and feel like maybe one day I’ll get to him as well as Dad,” said Leo Borg of his father’s success at the All England Club. from 1976 to 1980. In 1981, he lost a memorable final battle with John McEnroe.
Before the match, Borg did not give any great advice to his son. “He just wished me good luck and enjoyed it on the court, because playing Wimbledon is always extraordinary,” said the promising junior.
