Spanish coach Luis Enrique hopes the Spanish and Italian fans will be flooded at Wembley football stadium on Tuesday. The two countries will meet in the semifinals of EURO 2020, but in the United Kingdom there are strict measures before the spread of coronavirus.
Neither the Italians nor the Spaniards were allowed an exemption from quarantine by the British. Nevertheless, Enrique hopes that his charges will be supported in the stands by Spanish fans: “It’s a strange situation. I hope there will be more Spaniards and Italians in the stands than English fans, but these are things we can’t influence.”
There can be 60,000 spectators at Wembley for the semifinals and finals. England will have a huge advantage over Denmark on Wednesday and will also have the support of domestic fans in the eventual final. The European Football Union (UEFA) has reached an agreement with the British government that quarantine on the islands does not have to be completed only by VIP guests who will be at matches.
“I won’t waste energy on it. We wish it were different, but we accept it,” AFP was quoted as coaching the Spaniards.
