Pertamina’s Credit Card Limit Shock, Erick Thohir Opens His Voice!

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir finally opened his voice regarding the spotlight on the Oil and Gas BUMN Holding PT Pertamina (Persero) after information was revealed about the credit card limit of the commissioners and management of the BUMN, which was ‘wow’.

The credit card limit value, which amounts to Rp. 30 billion, was opened by Pertamina President Commissioner Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok.

Ahok’s goal in opening the matter was because he wanted the credit card facility for Pertamina’s top officials to be removed as a control for inappropriate use. Even Pertamina’s credit card documents with a corporate limit of Rp 420 billion were later leaked to the public.

According to Erick, Ahok’s steps are part of his supervisory duties. “I think it’s like a commissioner’s job, supervising the performance of the directors, I think it’s legal, and this is part of the checks and balances,” he said at Kimia Farma Matraman pharmacy, Jakarta, Monday (5/7/2021) , quoted by detiknews.

However, Erick also believes that the performance of the directors with the assignments given has high professionalism. Erick also emphasized that the credit card was not for personal use.

Erick continued, sometimes the use of credit cards is important, especially in this non-cash era.

“Sometimes we need it, especially in this era of cashless, right now I’m sorry, I just didn’t bring my wallet, I didn’t bring cash, the cashless era. So the cards are sometimes needed for operations, not for personal use. But , whether the commissioners have to check, it’s only natural, each of them will also be done later,” said the founder of Mahaka Media.

Erick also explained that currently the Ministry of SOEs together with the Indonesian Human Capital Forum (FHCI) are holding training for directors and commissioners. The training was held because many things will change during a pandemic or post-pandemic.

According to him, the training will be a forum for directors and commissioners to learn about all the changes that occur.

“So those who didn’t know online now have pharmacies like this, but they also have to be able to serve online, or for example in other business models there is a change, which used to sell gasoline, now electricity sells too. What is the electricity for, not to light a light bulb for lighting? house, used a car. Now imagine because it has changed, “he said.

So we have formed the forum earlier, we both learn checks and balances, but the most important thing is what the world is like after COVID, we will do that,” continued Erick.

Recently, the public was shocked by Ahok’s statement which revealed that he received a corporate credit card facility with a limit of up to Rp 30 billion.

Ahok finally made a policy of eliminating the corporate credit card facility at Pertamina and according to him, the abolition of the corporate credit card facility took effect the day after the Pertamina General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS), to be precise as of Tuesday, June 15, 2021.

Ahok’s confession also surprised a number of parties, including the former president director of Pertamina, the former president commissioner of Pertamina, and the former Minister of SOEs.

Starting from Ari Soemarno (President Director of Pertamina 2006-2009), Tanri Abeng (Komut Pertamina 2015-2019), and Dahlan Iskan (Minister of SOEs 2011-2014) all claimed to be surprised by the credit card limit value.

Not yet separated from the shock, now CNBC Indonesia received information that Pertamina’s corporate credit card limit on a holding basis had even penetrated up to Rp 420 billion.

From the documents obtained by CNBC Indonesia, it appears that there is indeed a “super group credit limit” record. The written limit of Rp 420 billion is the group limit.

“That is for Persero, outside the board of directors and does not include the board of commissioners and the company’s descendants,” said a CNBC Indonesia source while showing the document, Monday (28/06/2021).

CNBC Indonesia has tried to confirm it with a Pertamina spokesperson, but there has been no response.
