Heidi Klum eases the veil on the broken marriage with Seal

The German supermodel Heidi Klum (48) and ex-husband Seal (58) married in 2005, and had during the marriage the three children Lou (11), Johan (14) and Henry (15).

About the same time as Klum met her ex-husband, she was also pregnant with her first child Leni (17), which she has with the Italian businessman Falvio Briatore (71). In 2009, Leni was adopted by Seal, who was also present during the birth in 2004.

In 2014, after nine years of marriage, it was the nail in the coffin for the marriage between Klum and Seal. Today they have shared care for the four children.

– It could have been easier

Now, seven years later, the German model is shedding light on the broken marriage with Seal in an interview with Sunday Times.

– I think I married Seal eight times. I thought it would be fun, she recalls when the couple renewed their marriage vows several years after they gave each other their yes back in 2005.

Klum makes no secret of the fact that she tried hard to make the marriage work.

– I thought it would be a party of love, but you know, it does not work either. I tried, no one can say I did not try, she continues.

Klum further explains that when she eventually lost faith in the renewal of the marriage vows, and felt that the marriage did not work, she still tried to stay the course.

In the interview, the German supermodel also admits that she and her ex-husband are still trying to figure out how to work well together with the children.

– It could have been easier, but everyone is healthy and that is the most important thing. Everything else can be found out, she says frankly.

Challenging to collaborate

Seal, on the other hand, has previously admitted to US Weekly that it can be challenging to work with ex-wives, especially since they are in different places.

– It requires teamwork. If you are a team, and if both parents are a team, it is very easy and not a challenge at all. But you have to be a team, and if you are not a team, everything can fall apart, he said.

When asked by US Weekly if the Grammy winner and Klum are a good team, he replied:

– No, I have never had that teamwork with Klum.

However, Klum hints at the same thing when she praises her current husband Tom Kaulitz (31), in the above-mentioned interview with the Sunday Times. There she explains that sometimes it is just a matter of talking about things, something she has not experienced before she met her current husband.

The supermodel believes that she was always the one who had to make all the decisions and planning for everyone.

Refused to let her travel

Last year, however, it was a little more turbulent between the couple. Then Klum wanted to take the children to their home country Germany, to record a new season of “Top Model”.

This did not want Seal due to the corona situation, and Klum chose to go to court against his ex-husband. Shortly afterwards they came to an agreement, and Klum prevailed on one condition.

In the court documents, which People had gained access to, it emerged that before the children were to leave Los Angeles and return again, the father would have to spend extra time with them.

Seal should also be allowed to visit the children in Germany at any time, something Klum should help to arrange and make it work.

At the same time, it emerged that if the United States closed all borders due to the pandemic, it was Klum’s responsibility to return home with the children before the country closed down.
