Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said there was an additional Rp 225.4 trillion in the budget during this emergency PPKM period. This addition is for handling the Covid-19 pandemic, both in terms of health and social protection.
According to him, the proposed additional budget will be included in the National Economic Recovery (PEN) program, which currently has a budget of Rp 699.43 trillion.
“For emergency PPKM, there is an additional proposal (budget) in the amount of Rp. 225.4 trillion,” he said in a virtual press conference, Monday (5/7/2021).
In detail, this additional budget for Health is Rp. 120.72 trillion, priority programs is Rp. 10.89 trillion, social protection is Rp. 28.7 trillion and business incentives is Rp. 15.2 trillion and support for MSMEs is Rp. 50.04 trillion.
On the same occasion, Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara explained that the addition to the health sector was large enough to finance the needs of handling Covid-19. This includes payments for underpayments for handling Covid-19 in 2020 and treatment for treatment this year, which is estimated to reach Rp 40 trillion.
In addition, there is also an addition for medicines and incentives for health workers amounting to Rp. 9.15 trillion. Also additional health budget for the implementation of vaccination and the provision of vaccines.
“It is also combined with the local government budget which is for vaccination support. There are several other additions in health which are small in nature including the need for emergency hospitals, self-isolation, Indonesian migrant workers and others, all of which we will fulfill,” said Suahasil.
Then, the social protection budget will be provided for several assistance programs to the community, starting from the extension of the electricity discount in the third quarter and also the extension of the provision of direct cash assistance for two months, namely July and August.
Then there is also the acceleration of the distribution of basic food assistance and the Family Hope Program (PKH). Where the distribution will be boosted this week in accordance with President Joko Widodo’s direction.
