His opponent, the independent candidate Rumen Tomov, supported by the BSP, is supported by 40.07% of voters. His powers as mayor were terminated early – which is why the by-elections were held.
In the first round Ilko Stoyanov won with 1209 votes – 35.32% against 28.65% for Tomov.
In the runoff, the difference between the two increased to about 2,000 votes.
