sport">The Dutch medal candidate at the Olympic Games later this summer in Tokyo already announced in Oslo after her race that she felt she could go even faster. Bol proved this once again in Stockholm, where she just beat the American Shamier Little (52.39). Ukraine’s Anna Ryzhykova was third in 52.96.
sport">For Bol it was her third victory this season in the Diamond League. She triumphed last month in Florence in a time of 53.44 and that was also a Dutch record. She ran her former top time of 53.79 last year.
sport">Bol reacted elated, but also surprised at her winning time in Stockholm. “I can hardly believe this. I keep running personal records. I am almost 1 second faster than my previous top time here. I do think that improving my personal bests will stop for now. In two days I have another race in Hungary with the same field of participants. That will be exciting again.”
World record in sight
sport">With her new Dutch record in Stockholm, Bol came close to the world record that American athlete Sydney McLaughlin ran in Eugene last Monday. The 21-year-old athlete rushed to 51.90 seconds, making her the first woman to dive under 52 seconds in this part.
sport">In the 100 meters Marije van Hunenstijn finished third in Stockholm in 11.32. Naomi Sedney finished fourth in 11.44. Both belong to the Dutch Olympic team for Tokyo. American Kayla White won in 11.23.
sport">Koen Smet triumphed in the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 13.59. He failed to qualify for the Olympics.
sport">Olympian Liemarvin Bonevacia finished third in the 400 meters in a time of 44.80.
