Government Saudi Arabia suspending flights to and from the three countries to prevent spread varian Delta corona virus which is more contagious.
The three countries consist of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ethiopia, and Vietnam. The UAE, especially Dubai, is one of the main tourist destinations for Saudi citizens.
“Citizens will be prohibited from traveling directly or indirectly without obtaining prior permission from the authorities,” a Saudi Interior Ministry official said.
The official said the decision was taken because of the “spread of a new, mutated type of Covid-19” without explicitly mentioning the Delta variant that continues to spread globally.
The Delta variant is the most infectious of a number of corona mutations that have been identified so far. The UAE announced last week that its government had detected at least 85 cases of the Delta variant of Covid-19.
Quoted by the news agency SPA, the official confirmed that the flight suspension took effect on Sunday (4/7).
Even so, King Salman’s government will still allow Saudi citizens from the three countries to return home by requiring them to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in the country.

For the second time since last year, Saudi Arabia has again restricted the 2021 hajj event by only allowing local pilgrims to perform the worship.
