PhD candidate Go Ahead Eagles has immediately strengthened itself with an experienced German centre-back. The 29-year-old Gerrit Nauber comes over from SV Sandhausen and has signed a one-year contract in Deventer.
In his homeland, Nauber played successively for Bayer Leverkusen, Sportfreunde Lotte, MSV Duisburg and SV Sandhausen. On Monday, the center defender will start his first foreign adventure at Go Ahead Eagles. “I wanted to play at the highest level in another country and get to know a different competition,” he says on the club site. “The conversations with the club management of Go Ahead Eagles have convinced me to take the step and choose this club.”
Nauber will immediately join the first selection on Monday. “Since I walked into De Adelaarshorst for the first time yesterday, I’m looking forward even more to being able to experience the atmosphere that the supporters create for myself.” Technical manager Paul Bosvelt is very pleased with the signing of the experienced German defender. “We are very happy that Gerrit has chosen Go Ahead Eagles. He is a defensively strong player who also wants to play from the back. With his experience and appearance he can play an important role in our group of players.”
Nauber is after Ogechika Heil (rented from Hamburger SV), Isac Lindberg (Gefle), Ragnar Oratmangoen (SC Cambuur), Philippe Rommens (TOP Oss), Mats Deijl (FC Den Bosch), Job Schuursman (NEC Nijmegen) and Joris Kramer ( rented from AZ) the eighth summer acquisition of Go Ahead.
