NEW YORK – A woman from upstate New York was arrested after allegedly attempting to decapitate her dog with a sword.
The Albany Times Union reported that the Cairo woman was charged with aggravated animal cruelty in an attack that occurred last week that left the canine with a severe cut to the neck.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office said the dog was in “extreme pain” for about eight hours before being taken for life-saving surgery. Authorities did not say how they found the dog.
Five other dogs in the woman’s home were seized and turned over to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society.
