About 165 young people infected after a night of dancing in a nightclub in …

About 165 of the estimated 600 people who went out last Saturday in a disco in Enschede, in the east of the Netherlands, have contracted corona, the Municipal Health Service (GGD) of Twente confirmed on Sunday. Possibly there was cheating with negative tests.

The GGD is still busy with source and contact research among visitors to the Aspen Valley nightlife in Enschede.

The GGD previously called on all visitors to be tested. Those who have not had any complaints since visiting the disco have also been asked to be tested and to stay at home until the results are known. The GGD previously announced that there was a lot of enthusiasm among young people to get tested. It is not known whether people have also become ill as a result of an infection.

QR codes forged

Visitors to the club may have cheated with the QR codes of negative tests. “The QR codes would have been forwarded among themselves,” a spokesperson for the municipality of Enschede told RTL Nieuws. “Visitors would also have walked in and out. Whereas when you’re inside, you’re supposed to stay there.”

The nightclub owner has decided to remain closed for the time being.
