Emissions have been mowing European offerings of various cars for many years – and now the Jeep Wrangler has occurred. While in the USA you will get not only a six-cylinder, but also an eight-cylinder, in Europe from next year only a plug-in hybrid with the designation 4xe will be available.
–
This means, among other things, that we will no longer be able to buy the classic three-door version, but only the five-door Unlimited. The plug-in hybrid device does not fit into the short version. How and whether the change will affect the Gladiator pick-up, which does not yet have a plug-in hybrid version and is sold in Europe with a three-liter turbodiesel, is not known at this time.
–
Change is sad, but not all is lost. First, the short version accounts for only less than a third of wrangler sales in Europe. And also the 4xe version has an electric motor in the gearbox, so in front of the additional gearbox – and it is possible to drive on electricity with a reduction and in the case of the Rubicon version with closed differentials.
–
The plug-in hybrid device does not fit in a short wrangler, so you can no longer buy it in Europe. In the illustration, modified or new drive components of version 4xe are shown in blue.

In the United Kingdom, since it left the EU, a purely petrol version remains on offer, at least for now. Nor should anything prevent individual imports from the USA, for which there are specialized companies.
