Nicolas Batum, the Los Angeles Clippers winger, forfeited the game against the Miami Heat (LA 125-118 victory) on Monday night, his team mentioning a concussion to justify his absence.

At first, the reason given by the Californian franchise, in their report of unavailable players prior to the meeting, was a headache. This was then confirmed by coach Tyron Lue, specifying that the player had complained of headaches during the day. After which, the Clippers made an update with the status of “concussion”, without any clarification being made.

According to Los Angeles Daily News, Batum received a blow to the face Sunday night, on a contact with Jarrett Allen, in the victory against Cleveland (128-111). Which had not prevented him from finishing the meeting. On Twitter, the captain of the France team hailed the victory of his franchise last night.

Batum often concussed in the past
This isn’t the first time the 32-year-old international has suffered a concussion. In 2013, when playing for the Portland Trail Blazers, he crashed heavily after a dunk in training and had to miss a preseason game.

Four years later, while playing for the Charlotte Hornets, Nicolas Batum had to miss two regular season games, due to a strong migraine, which had bedridden him for four days. He had had a brain scan that didn’t show anything abnormal and the pain eventually went away.

Arrived this fall at the Clippers, Batum makes a convincing first third of the season in the skin of a holder (9.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists per game) in a team ranked third of the Western Conference and contender for the title.
