Plane with 92 on board crashed in the Philippines

It is the commander of the Philippine defense who reports that the plane has gone down.

There were 92 people on board when the plane crashed.

The Philippine Chief of Defense states that at least 40 soldiers have so far been rescued from the burning wreckage. The aircraft was of the type Hercules C-130.

At the same time, 17 people have been confirmed dead.

– The emergency services are on site now, we pray that we can save more lives, says General Cirilito Sobejana.

The plane tried to land on the island of Jolo in Sulu province.

– The plane missed the runway and tried to get the power back, but failed and crashed, Sobejana says.

The plane was transporting soldiers to be deployed on Jolo, an island that has long been marked by an extreme Islamist uprising.
