Spotify releases beta for M1 Macs

The first Macs with Apple Silicon, Macbook Air and Pro as well as the Mac Mini with M1 processor, were released in November last year and for most developers it has been quick and easy to support the new chips. In most cases, it is enough to check a box in Xcode and recompile.

But for Spotify, it has taken a little more time. Only now, almost eight months after the launch, has the company put one up beta version of the Mac application running directly on the M1 and not via Rosetta.

The update was released via a suggestions on Spotify’s support forums 3,010 people have signed up, requesting Apple Silicon support. The company points out that because it is a beta version, there may still be bugs.
