Their temperature is not measured, nor is it asked whether they have (mild) complaints. That is what a Schiphol spokesperson told RTL Nieuws. “That is the policy in the Netherlands at the moment. That policy is determined by the government, not by Schiphol.”

New York has been hit hard by the virus outbreak. Of the more than 2,000 deaths in the US from the lung virus, more than 700 have been recorded in this state.
Concerns at union
The Dutch Cabin Crew Association (VNC) has expressed its concerns about continuing to fly to New York. “We have told KLM that it is irresponsible that this destination is still flown seven times a week. It concerns the greatly increased chance that we transport passengers with corona and thus expose the cabin crew to an inexplicable risk.”

The union wants New York to be added to the list of risk countries, to which a landing ban applies. At the moment, flights from China (including Hong Kong), Italy, Iran, Spain, Austria and South Korea are banned. So if it’s up to the VNC, New York will be added to it.
Daily flights
There are still daily flights scheduled to and from New York for the coming week. When passengers arrive in the Netherlands, they must comply with the regulations of the RIVM, such as keeping a distance of 1.5 meters and not grouping with more than three people. They are not additionally checked.
On social media, people wonder why passengers coming from New York are not checked on arrival.

Whether a country is a risk country or not is determined by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) and the RIVM. For the time being, the United States is not labeled that way.
A spokesperson for the RIVM says: “The entire package of measures as we have it assumes that people with complaints will stay at home. This also applies to people who come from New York. There is also no additional advice: everyone with the lightest complaints must remain inside.”
