The Government Spokesperson for COVID-19 and Ambassador for the Adaptation of New Habits, Dr. Reisa Broto Asmoro, assessed that the COVID-19 emergency situation cannot be stopped by the actions of one or two people. But by small actions together by implementing health protocols in a disciplined and strict manner.
In addition, the public has the courage to immediately carry out tests when they have fever, cough, runny nose or close contact with positive cases. Don’t forget to be honest when you trace the case tracking officer and report yourself to the puskesmas so that it can encourage the successful control of this dangerous variant of the Sars Cov-2 Virus and the Emergency PPKM can be completed.
“Our one small action means thousands, even millions of lives are safe and healthy again. Let’s show our role as citizens who care to protect each other,” said Dr. Reisa in a written statement, Saturday (3/7/2021).
He said that the Corona virus was most easily transmitted in several circumstances, including in a closed room, long meetings of more than 15 minutes, as well as close interaction and crowds. Likewise with other activities that open the risk of spreading droplet splashes, such as singing, talking, laughing, especially when not wearing a mask.
“So the correct and consistent use of masks is the most minimal health protocol that everyone needs to implement right now, without exception,” he said.
More dr. Reisa explained that the type of mask that is better at providing protection is disposable surgical masks or N95 masks. However, it would be better if the disposable masks were used double in order to reduce the risk of droplets splashing into the oral and nasal cavities.
“First, clean your hands first, use a surgical mask as the first layer. Make sure the thin wire at the top of the surgical mask is pressed towards the face so that the shape follows the shape of the nose. Then cover it with a cloth mask consisting of 3 layers of cloth,” he explained.
He reminded to wear a cloth mask with the right size. Next, make sure the rubber band of the cloth mask is securely attached to the ears or tied at the back of the head. Try to exhale and check if there is still air flowing from the top and sides of the mask.
“If it’s still there, adjust the position and tightness of the mask,” he said.
In wearing a mask, he continued, try to be able to breathe comfortably and not feel dizzy or lightheaded. The public is also asked to routinely replace the masks they wear every 4 hours and only open them if no one else is two meters away. In addition, it is important to always wash your hands before and after removing the mask.
According to him, surgical masks should be thrown away after one use even though they are covered with cloth masks. While cloth masks can be reused after washing thoroughly.
Not only wearing masks, dr. Reisa said hands must also be cleaned repeatedly, both with soap and hand sanitizer. Especially after touching objects that other people have touched, such as doorknobs or stair railings.
“And remember to use hand sanitizer, not from wet or from spray. Keep doing six steps such as washing hands with water and soap. Make sure it is evenly distributed to all parts of the hands and fingers,” he said.
He also said frequent hand washing kills thousands of germs on hands. Not only protected from COVID-19, but also other viral bacteria. dr. Reisa also appealed to the public to stay at home because it was considered the safest. If you have to leave the house, try to keep a distance of at least 2 meters from other people.
Even if you have to contact other people, pay attention to air ventilation, duration, and distance of interaction to minimize the risk of transmission. Try in an open space with good air circulation.
“Don’t linger, get straight to the point of the interaction or conversation and always keep your distance,” he said.
Meanwhile, for those who have an office, make sure the schedule and categories of industry and services are in accordance with government regulations during the Emergency PPKM period, and enter alternately. The office space must always be sprayed with disinfectant and strive to have good air ventilation.
“Open the doors and windows. If the door or window cannot be opened, then an air purifier with a hepa filter can be used indoors,” he concluded.
