Recently, the negligence of a small dog owners was noticed in Mažaparks, when people went to have fun, but left the animal without fresh air for several hours, reports the program “Degpunkta”.
In the cabin of the car, a dog breathing hard, which was obviously overheated, was noticed by accidental passers-by who had come to Mežaparks to have fun, as well as the owner of the dog, who later turned out to have gone to the zoo. Surrounding, seeing that the dog’s life was in danger, he called the police and rescuers.
“He has been in for at least two hours. It’s just moving less and less, but that’s not normal. They demanded outside by the window, now they can’t, ”said the law enforcement officers.
For a while, however, the men still hoped that the hostess would show up. Her name has been clarified and law enforcement has even tried to contact the lady on Facebook. Unsuccessful. After a few more minutes of deliberation, the services decided not to wait any longer, to knock out the window and rescue the dog, who was noticeably tormented. The dog was watered and placed in the shade, and after a while the owner of the car and the dog also appeared.
The woman said that she left the dog alone for about two hours. Asked if she thought the dog was hot, she said she covered the windows with towels and the dog also had access to water, which later turned out to have been dumped by the dog. Then the law enforcement officers drew attention to the fact that the window had been knocked out, because the animal had to be rescued, it was hot outside, it was even hotter in the car and the animal barely breathed. The woman said that the dog was old and sleeping at all.
The police conclude that what has happened now, after analyzing all the facts, looks like a clumsy attempt by the owner of the dog to justify his actions. While walking away, she took actions that were actually sham. For example, water is left in awkward glasses, which the animal has already overturned in the first minutes. Also, the towel was no longer in front of the window, because the dog was running around the cabin. This is an imitation of an action rather than a real care for an animal, says Toms Sadovskis, a representative of the Riga Municipal Police.
Veterinarians also warn that leaving animals in a car for a pet can be fatal. And no matter what measures have been taken before, the car’s interior “bakes” in the sun. The effect is similar in the shade, but not so fast. When the car quickly gets hot, and the car is like a greenhouse in the sun – the temperature rises quickly, the vehicle can heat up to 50 or even 70 degrees Celsius, the veterinarian warns.
