Three support vessels are involved in extinguishing the fire above the surface of the water. There were no reports of casualties or deaths, and there was no need to evacuate personnel who were near the site of the mining platform accident.

The incident took place off the coast of the city of Ciudad del Carmen in the southeastern state of Campeche.
Ku Maloob Zaap is one of Pemex’s most productive projects, accounting for over 40% of 1.68 million barrels of daily oil production.
