A man living in England broke his penis during sexual intercourse and went down in the history of medicine with the intervention.
Medical JorunalIn the case described in , the condition of the man, who did not want to be named, was described as “an erect penis subjected to an abnormal bending force.”
While penile fractures usually occur as horizontal fractures, the 40-year-old Briton became ‘the first person known to have his penis broken vertically during sex’.
While the main symptom of the injury was a sudden ‘bursting sensation’ and ‘swelling’, only moderate tension and swelling was seen in the 40-year-old man’s broken bone.
However, the surgeon confirmed that the man had “a vertical tear of three inches” in his penis. In such cases, surgical intervention is required within 24 hours to reduce the risk of long-term complications such as “erectile dysfunction, excessive penile curvature or urethral stenosis”.
