The fire that happened last Wednesday raged in a building of the Bureau for Public Healthcare Suriname (BOG), according to employees, could have been prevented. In January 2021 there was already a fire in the fuse box, probably due to overload (photo).
This would be a harbinger that things could go wrong in the event of a fire in the fuse box. BOG employees tell Waterkant that the management did not opt for a sustainable solution after the fire in January.
According to the employees, a contractor was present after the fire, but he did not change the situation much. As a result, the fuse box remained a weak spot in the building.
The devastating fire earlier this week is also said to have started at the fuse box. According to the employees, this could have been prevented if the situation had been handled properly in January.
