Jordan Pickford told his England press conference that he reported that Arsenal and Tottenham goalkeeper Raheem Sterling has had an “outstanding” career.
The 26-year-old has been a standout player for England at Euro 2020 this summer, scoring three goals as the Three Lions meet in the quarter-finals.

A career that started in Merseyside and is now flourishing in Manchester, Sterling has been one of the Premier League’s best players in recent years.
Question marks were put on him last season though, perhaps suggesting why Arsenal are trying to lure him to the Emirates and Man City have apparently offered him to Spurs.
Either way, while all that talk is taking place off the field, Sterling is being loud and clear on the field as he continues to shine in the colors of England.
And Pickford praised his teammate, who has gone from being a teenager without that cutting edge to someone who has added much more precision in front of goal over the years.
“I’ve known Raheem for a long time,” Pickford said. “U16 victory shield, I think Raheem and I were on that team together.
“His career has been outstanding. He is the same boy he was when he was 16 years old.
“It’s great to have him in place. He is vocal. He is a leader in the field. Four (three) goals now and it has been brilliant ”.

England have no better chance of picking up the silverware than now, starting with a showdown with Ukraine in Rome at the weekend.
If they can see past them, then it is the Czech Republic or Denmark in the semi-finals.
And since the Three Lions haven’t reached a final since 1966, there’s no better chance for Gareth Southgate and his boys to end years and years of pain.
