Borussia Dortmund will go into the DFB Cup 2021/22 as defending champions. In this article we will tell you when this begins with the first round games and which teams are qualified for it.
On May 13, Borussia Dortmund won the 2020/21 DFB Cup with a win in the final against RB Leipzig. Now the DFB Cup 2021/22 is already casting its shadow.
After the final day of the amateurs last Saturday, most of the participants in the 79th edition of the competition have been determined. However, due to the ongoing corona pandemic and the problems that arise, especially in amateur football , the participants of all state associations have not yet been determined.
In the following sections we explain when the first round of the DFB Cup will be played, which teams will be there and also what the TV broadcast will be like.

DFB-Pokal 2021/22, 1st round: Participants
As in previous years, 64 teams have qualified for the first round of the DFB Cup 2021/22. The three associations with the largest number of members, Bavaria, Lower Saxony and Westphalia, each have two starting positions.
So far, 55 of the 64 participants in the DFB Cup have been determined. The participants from the regional associations of Bavaria (winner of the League Cup and winner of the Toto Cup), Bremen, Hamburg, Lower Saxony (cup winners amateurs), Schleswig-Holstein, South Baden, Thuringia and a participant from the southwest are still to be determined.
