Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Ministry of Health (Ministry of Health) responded to the former Minister of Health Siti Fadilah Supari who questioned the number of deaths of patients exposed to the corona virus (Covid-19) which continues to increase, even though the program vaccination has been running for the past six months.
Spokesperson for Vaccination from the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said this was due to communal immunity or herd immunity Indonesia has not been reached because the recipient of the complete dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has only reached 7.5 percent of the total target of 181,554,465 people who are targeted for vaccination.
“Because there are still many who have not been vaccinated, only 13 million have received complete vaccinations. So the level of community protection is not enough,” said Nadia via text message to CNNIndonesia.com, Thursday (1/7).
Nadia previously also revealed that vaccines are not actually treating the Covid-19 disease but as a preventive measure. Even though someone who has been vaccinated has the potential to be exposed, it is very likely that they will only experience mild symptoms until they do not experience a worsening of symptoms and must be hospitalized.

Thus, if covid-19 vaccination has been done massively and aggressively in 60-70 percent of the population. It is hoped that it will be able to reduce the level of pain and death of residents due to exposure to the corona virus.
The Director of Prevention and Control of Directly Infectious Diseases (P2PML) of the Ministry of Health also warned residents who had been vaccinated not to immediately feel the safest and thus abandon compliance with the COVID-19 health protocol.
“Because we are currently still in a pandemic condition, which means the transmission rate is still high. Also with the new variant, we need to maintain health protocols,” he said.
Siti Fadilah previously questioned the cause of the spike in deaths from the corona virus in Indonesia, which is still high, in line with the ongoing vaccination program.
“Before vaccination started, how much was the morbidity (positive case) and mortality (death)? After vaccination was started until about 10 million people were vaccinated, what kind of morbidity and mortality did it increase, you know?” said Siti in a discussion organized by the Gelora Party online, Thursday (1/7).
Siti stated that the government should not use estimates as a basis for policy making in handling the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to him, all policies taken must go through a scientific research process, including the current spike in Covid-19 cases. Siti also said that ignorance of the scientific substance made the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia go awry.
