Mummified cat found in monumental building in Utrecht | Inland

According to the animal ambulance, it concerns the cat called Boefje who went missing seven years ago. The animal rescue service says on Facebook that it is more common that a dead animal is found during construction work, but the fact that the animal has been preserved in this way makes the find very special.

Rascal was found in a stuffy spot behind a chimney. This may explain why the cat’s body became mummified.

The animal ambulance says on Facebook that the owners of Boefje have been informed of the find. They also add that it is important to chip an animal and to register it properly. “In such cases, too, that can provide a definite answer. Know that it is possible even after seven years.”
