Juventus identify Ronaldo replacement
Italian club Juventus are preparing for the departure of striker Cristiano Ronaldo, with the 36-year-old Portuguese striker increasingly likely to leave. They identified three potential replacements. One is Gabriel Jesus, the Brazilian Manchester City forward, the other is Mauro Icardi who could leave PSG after a year, and the youngest option is Dusan Vlahovic, 21, of Fiorentina.

Opinion: It’s the Granite Xhaka we knew to be there, but there is still time to leave Arsenal

Paper Round’s point of view: Taking Ronaldo off their payrolls will be of great help as the impact of the coronavirus has left all clubs spending money which they probably now realize they can’t afford. It might have been worth it to win a Champions League trophy, but they ultimately failed. Jesus and Icardi look decent worth, but Vlahovic has the most room to run, in terms of talent.

Ben White will cost £ 5million more
The Mirror reports that Arsenal’s decision for Brighton and England defender Ben White may not be as affordable as hoped. The 23-year-old center-back was believed to be available for £ 50million this summer, but it looks like Brighton is looking for that figure in guaranteed payouts, with more to come in potential additions from Mikel Arteta’s side.
Paper Round’s point of view: White is one of England’s most promising young defenders and at just 23 he has plenty of experience in English football, as well as international experience with Gareth Southgate’s side. If Arsenal can afford the extra £ 5million, it’s unlikely there will be any cheaper players who can emphasize those same qualities.
Smith Rowe ready for new Arsenal deal
Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe, 20, is expected to stay in the Emirates. He has been the subject of two offers from Aston Villa, another Premier League side, with the second offering around £ 30million. However, the Sun reports that a decision is unlikely to be made as he gave Arsenal a verbal agreement to sign a new contract to stay.
Paper Round’s point of view: With Dani Ceballos exiting after his double loan and Martin Odegaard after his brief temporary stint in London, it would be difficult for Arsenal to let Smith Rowe go as they are far from assured of adding another playmaker to the team. More than that, he has shown overwhelmingly positive interventions since making a regular debut in the first team under Mikel Arteta.
Newcastle wait for Saliba as they consider Sanderson
Newcastle United are waiting to see if young Arsenal defender William Saliba will be loaned to them next season, but current French champions Lille are interested. If that doesn’t pass, they are favorites for 21-year-old Wolves defenseman Dion Sanderson. They made an offer of £ 1.5million, half a million more than Sunderland’s offer, but half a million less than Wovles’ estimate.
Paper Round’s point of view: Sanderson impressed at Sunderland on loan last season, but it’s hard to see how Sanderson wouldn’t prefer to make the short drive to Newcastle in order to get a few Premier League minutes. If they could also add Saliba to their squad for just one year, they would add real quality to the squad and improve their chances of staying put once again.
