Summer nights are back with outdoor movies in Oviedo. The cycle “Cinema in the light of the moon”, by SACO, starts tomorrow with the premiere in Asturias of the film “Los Europeos”, by Víctor García León, in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. This will be the first of the 33 film days that the city will enjoy during the months of July and August. The screenings will tour the neighborhoods of Oviedo: there will be up to 16 different locations and a novelty, the Calatrava Conference and Exhibition Center, which will be the setting chosen to host the days dedicated to science fiction.
The sixth edition of the cycle pays tribute to the director Luis García Berlanga, in the centenary year of his birth, and to the Scottish actor Sean Connery, who died last February. The program will reach neighborhoods in the center of the city and others such as La Corredoria, Las Campas or Ventanielles, as well as rural areas such as Tudela Veguín, Olloniego, Colloto or Trubia.
SACO, with the collaboration of the Municipal Foundation of Culture (FMC), joins the “centenary Berlanga” by programming three of its most celebrated titles: “Calabuch”, “Thursdays, miracle” and “Welcome Mr. Marshall”. To see the last two we will have to wait until August.
All the appointments of “Cinema in the light of the moon” will be screened at 10:15 p.m. and will be offered dubbed in Spanish, with two exceptions: “To be or not to be” and “West Side Story”, which will be offered in the original version with subtitles. . The projections will be subject to both the weather and the evolution of the pandemic. From the organization they clarify that both the rain and the sanitary restrictions can cancel some of the appointments scheduled for the summer months.
This Thursday, the latest film by Víctor García León will be presented by its producer, the Asturian Jaime Martínez, “Gonita”. With the screening of “Los Europeos” in the City Hall, a festival will open that, only in the month of July, will offer up to eighteen days of cinema.
