After race a Rafale fighter, O Bugatti Chiron now try something closer to your reality. Placed side by side with a car from Formula 1 on the YouTube channel Carwow, the vehicle once again tried to prove its power in an acceleration contest.
The Chiron’s engine is a tough match. The super sports car, which costs more than R$ 18 million, has an 8.0 W16 quadriturbo engine with 1520 hp and 163.15 kgfm. Its top speed is an incredible 440 km/h and it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.4 seconds, according to the brand.
The dual-clutch automatic transmission and four-wheel drive also help the Bugatti to be one of the fastest production cars ever made.

However, the French hypersport didn’t race any Formula 1. It is literally a champion. The model used is the same that Sebastian Vettel piloted in 2011, when he won the second world championship. That year, the RBR team also won the constructors’ championship because of this car.
The RB7, which raced against Chiron, has an engine Renault (don’t be fooled by the stickers on the Honda shown in the video) 2.4 liter V8 naturally aspirated and limited to 18,000 rpm, which generates just over 760 hp. Your broadcast is a paddle shift seven-speed and all the power goes to the rear wheels.

According to the technical sheet, apparently Bugatti has the upper hand. But, just like in a UFC fight, the weight is something very important – but in this case, the one with the advantage is the lighter vehicle. Red Bull’s “fly weight”, practically entirely made of carbon fiber, is only 650 kg, against 1950 kg for the Chiron.
This difference of more than a ton was decisive on the track. The F1, driven by ex-driver Dave Coulthard, won all three quarter-mile races (about 400 meters). His time was 9.2 seconds, against Bugatti’s 9.6.
The RB7 also got the better of the braking test. With the two cars paired up at a speed of 100 mph (about 160 km/h) the F1 managed to stop well before the hypersport, thanks largely to its lighter weight and its larger downforce, necessary to “fix” the car to the ground, preventing it from skidding when going around corners at high speed.
Bugatti got the better of just one of the tests. This time, both vehicles covered a full mile (1.6 km) starting with the car already in motion, the so-called “launch start”. Although Coulthard’s vehicle opened up a good advantage, at the end of the route the Chiron showed its power, reaching 330 km/h, and managing to cross the finish line first.
At the end of the race, who won the most races doesn’t really matter. What we really like to see is the unusual encounter of two surprisingly fast machines.
