Covid-19 is on the rise in Russia as people refuse to be vaccinated

Officials in Russia are no longer asking for people, but demanding to be vaccinated against Covid-19, because the damage caused by the pandemic to the health system is approaching a critical limit – 150,000 patients are already being treated in hospitals and the number of deaths is growing every day, TV3 News reports.

The last 24 hours in Russia have had the highest death toll since the pandemic began in spring 2020. 652 people have lost their lives, but tens of thousands are fighting in hospitals with varying degrees of success. Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said that in total there are about 180,000 beds in the country for Covid patients – 150,000 are currently occupied.

“I watch the number of patients, I watch their disease… In short – people have to go vaccinated! Excuse me…”

Mandatory vaccination is increasingly being introduced in regions, institutions and sectors, a practice that is rarely used elsewhere in the world. However, recent surveys show that, on average, 60% of people refuse to be vaccinated. To date, only 12% of people in Russia have completed a full course of vaccination against Covid-19.

Clear as the day – to meet the target – 60% of people vaccinated against Covid-19 by September – in Russia is almost impossible. On June 29, the TV channel “Dozhj” reports that this target has already been significantly reduced to 30%. The government’s press service denied this.

In an effort to increase vaccination capacity, new points are being opened for vaccinations. In Yaroslavl you can get vaccinated in the circus building in the city center. After the vaccine – a circus ticket for free.

Nadezhda Korzina, Deputy Director of the Department of Health in the Yaroslavl Region

“The circus was chosen especially. It is centrally located, passing people, easy to access. We can vaccinate many. ”

“The vaccination center is open today, it is easily accessible in the center itself,” says Anna Orjola, a resident of Yaroslavl.

“I feel like a person from the future. I understand that vaccination is important, useful, and there are no other options, ”says Olesya, a Yaroslavl resident.

Currently, the worst situation and the most affected are in the big cities – Moscow and St. Petersburg. There are also new vaccination points. On the other hand, indoors you can have a meal or drink from Monday only with a digital certificate.

“I think these rules will help, but it all started so suddenly. Many people wanted to be vaccinated, just couldn’t. Now they are not allowed to enter here, ”says Nina Leonova, a visitor to the bar.-

“It simply came to our notice then. Today there were only 10 people. There are usually no vacancies here, ”observed bartender Andrejs Popovs.

Russia stands out on the world map with the fifth highest number of infections. European countries are also becoming troubled. On June 29, Germany bans Russian tourists from entering the country, regardless of whether the person has been vaccinated or not.
