There may be gold in pyrite

A mineral called pyrite was once nicknamed “fool’s gold” because it resembles a precious metal. However, real gold was found in it.
Scientists have stated that crystals of pyrite, popularly referred to as “fool’s gold”, may contain real gold. It is reported by Sciencealert.
However, the precious metal is difficult to extract because it cannot be seen in this mineral even under a microscope.
Pyrite is composed of iron disulfide (FeS₂). In the 1980s, it was discovered that it could contain gold in various forms.
“In a new study, my colleagues and I discovered a third, previously unknown way that gold can hide inside pyrite. When a pyrite crystal forms under extreme temperature or pressure, tiny flaws can appear in its crystal structure, which can contain gold atoms.” said Denis Fougerouz of Curtin University in Australia.
Recall that in France, on an abandoned estate in the city of More, they found a treasure of half a million euros of gold bars and coins.
