Gold for the Verbard couple

To pay tribute to their parents, Jeanne Lousie and Rosemont, the couple’s children gathered several times to plan the surprise. “The day before their vows were renewed, we offered them a night in a hotel in the West. While they were away, we did the shopping, prepared the meal, decorated the room with woven coconut leaves like dan tan lontan at the time they were married. From 6 am, we were in the kitchen for lunch, ”says Sabrina. When they returned from their stay at the hotel, the whole family was there to properly celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The Priest had even made the trip to bless their union as well as three elected officials of the City, Marie-Bernadette MOUNIAMA-CUVELIER, Huguette GRONDIN and Jacqueline CARPIN.

Surprised, the couple discovered all the love that their children, family and loved ones had for them. On the essential song Marylou by Pierre Roselli, the couple opened the ball. “It was their wedding song”. A wink that Jeanne Louisie and Rosemont will not soon forget.

On the liqueur table, boudoirs, sugared almonds and the cake … So many memories that take you back in time.

Jeanne Louisie and Rosemont met when they lived on rue Saint-Louis in Saint-Paul. At the time, their family did not have running water, they went together to fetch it. One thing led to another, they met and ended up getting engaged a few months later. “My father had sent a letter of marriage proposal to his parents who accepted,” Sabrina confides.

The marriage was celebrated on June 25, 1971 at the town hall and on June 26, 1971 at the Church of Saint-Paul. Jeanne Louisie, a stay-at-home mother who occasionally cleaned private homes, and Rosemont, a mason who traveled all over the island for her sites, were far from imagining that they were going to live this day for their golden wedding anniversary. Jeanne Louisie is still on her own… “I am so proud to have parents like them. They gave us an excellent education despite their small income. This education, we passed it on to our children. Following this celebration, mom told us: my wealth are my children and my family. ”

A day full of emotions for the whole family, who, we hope, will experience other strong and intense moments sprinkled with love.
