The Škoda 1203 revived in a futuristic electrical concept

Škoda 1203According to Škoda Auto, which was the most widespread Czechoslovak commercial vehicle of the 20th century, it received many changes in the new design. It all starts from the front of the car, where the Škoda 1203 got a “double peak” according to designer Hájek. The author calls this the overlaid roof edge and the radiator grille. The circumferential horizontal line was also changed.

“I’ve been thinking for a long time how to refer to the round lights of the original, which would otherwise be a very retro element. That’s why there’s only the hint of curves, but otherwise it’s a new distinctive signature, “says the author of the concept.

The rear of the car has also undergone major changes. “Original 1203 is relatively narrow, modern cars are very crouched, in addition, I again thought of how to get a link to the headlights, which 1203 inherited from the 1000 MB model, “says Daniel Hájek.

Although the concept is introduced new Damage 1203 especially about the design, Hájek also shared information about what engine he would imagine in his design. The winner would be a fully electric motor. “An electric car would allow even better use of space,” Hájek explained.

The original Škoda 1203 had its premiere on September 14, 1968 at the engineering fair in Brno. During its existence, it has received various uses. From an ambulance, minibus or van to a hearse. Under the hood hid a four-cylinder OHV with a power of 51 horsepower. The Škoda 1203 was initially produced in Vrchlabí, but later its production moved to Trnava, where its production lasted until the second half of the 1990s.
