Open Netherlands Foundation files a report after hacking attempt | Inland

Testing for Access arranges corona access tests and receives millions of euros from the government for this. In total, this concerns 95 test locations throughout the country. The hackers allegedly failed to actually penetrate the system. The foundation is conducting further investigations into the attack attempt with external parties.

From 00:00 on Friday night, people were allowed to go back to nightclubs, provided they could show a negative test result, vaccination certificate or recovery certificate. But for many people, their test results came in too late on Friday. According to the foundation, the delay is due to a hacking attempt, which will be reported by now.

NH Nieuws and de Gelderlander also write that visitors who did not actually have a valid test result yet were offered a negative result “to compensate” or “to get rid of it” without knowing what the test result was. The Open Netherlands Foundation says it will respond substantively at a later date.

Foreman Tom Middendorp of the Open Netherlands Foundation says about the hacking attempt: “Thousands of people are looking forward to going out for the first time in months and many test locations are fully booked today. It is therefore very disappointing to see someone trying to disrupt this from the outside. Safety is our top priority and we were able to address this right away, but this caused delays and some people now have to wait longer for their test results. Together with the test providers, we are therefore doing everything we can to clear the backlog so that everyone can enjoy a nice evening out.”

In any case, the test capacity at Testing for Access will be increased next weekend. To this end, the opening hours will be extended so that the capacity increases by 50 percent.
