“No sex, no solo”: artist Jan Fabre summoned for transgressive behavior against employees | Inland

“No sex, no solo.” According to (former) employees and interns of Troubleyn, Jan Fabre’s internationally renowned dance company, this was the artist’s mantra for more than twenty years. Three years ago, in the full #MeToo period, twenty of his employees got into their pens and testified in an open letter about humiliation, bullying and sexual harassment within Fabre’s dance company. Employees who did not accept his sexual advances fell out of favor, were no longer given solo dance performances and saw their career opportunities dwindle, as was apparent from their stories: “Talent alone was not enough. You also had to be willing to have sex with your employer if you wanted to get to the top.”
