Jakarta –
Lecturer of Communication Studies, University of Indonesia (UI) Ade Armando rate University of Indonesia Student Executive Board (BEM) lack of research related to criticism of ‘Jokowi king of lip service’. He then questioned what is the evidence that Jokowi is smart with words?
Initially, Ade said the criticism was made by FINE UI it’s something legitimate in a democracy. However, according to him, the way the criticism they convey is not smart.
“What was said FINE UI it is something that should be protected, something that is legal in a democracy. But at the same time, because they attack Pak Jokowi in a way that I don’t think is smart, then as a member of the UI community, you must state that your way of thinking is not right,” said Ade in a virtual debate, Monday (28/6/2021). .
“They say that Pak Jokowi is a hypocrite king, a liar, nawarul The Sundanese say. I will say, yes, but what is the proof? “He continued.
Ade saw that the criticism submitted by BEM UI was logically weak. One of the criticisms that are considered logically low is related to the revision of the ITE Law (UU).
“Well, they present a series of evidence. In short, there is the ITE Law, there is the KPK, there is the Ciptaker Law, there are arrests, the disbandment of demonstrators. I saw all four of them, although with different degrees, they are logically weak. For example, the easiest ITE Law. It seems that the research BEM children don’t read what the government has made in presenting the revision of the ITE Law,” he said.

Ade said that from the beginning President Jokowi had asked for the ITE Law to be revised because it had taken many victims. Until finally, said Ade, the government issued guidelines for articles deemed to suppress freedom of expression.
“This ITE Law is a law that has claimed many victims and then it is precisely at this time that Pak Jokowi has asked for it to be revised. But the DPR Law has rejected it. Then the proposed revision is now out and previously there were guidelines on the ITE Law issued by Mahfud Md together The Attorney General and the National Police, which clearly offer revisions to articles that have suppressed freedom, “he said.
“For example, if this had been released 2-3 years ago, people like Jerinx would not have gone to jail, people like Ahmad Dhani would not have gone to jail, people like Nuril Baiq would never have been brought to justice. Because of the articles in the original ITE Law, What the government criticizes, which is questioned by the government, contains articles that are so rubbery, so interpreted that they are commonly used by people to suppress freedom of speech. That is one example in my opinion which shows that the BEM team does not understand what they are criticizing,” he explained
Meanwhile, the Student Political Block, Delpedro Marhaen, again questioned the meaning of ‘not smart’ that was raised by Ade to BEM UI. He said that Ade only discussed one of BEM UI’s criticisms regarding the ITE Law, which according to him can be seen from two different perspectives.
“From the way of communication, he was wrong because he said the criticism he made was not smart, in the first point he said his criticism was not smart. asking what’s the point of unintelligent criticism? Mas Ade only discussed the ITE Law, which is on both sides, look for loopholes there,” he said.
Delpedro then explained that there were several points of criticism conveyed by BEM UI, one of which was Jokowi’s remarks that he missed student demonstrations. But Delpedro regretted it was just a ‘lip of service’. Because, in fact, many students were arrested during demonstrations.
“Secondly, in the UI content there are several points, for example, the one who said earlier about repression when I missed demonstrations. Mas Ade didn’t know when my friend was taken by the police accompany to the Police. Well, Mas Ade doesn’t know that. In fact, Jokowi said he wanted to be demonstrated. What does it mean, there is the correct lip of service,” he said.
Delpedro assesses Ade Armando as a braggart. Delpedro also called Armando a ‘pawn’ of Jokowi who always defended his king.
“It’s not wrong if the one he admires is Jokowi, the king of lip service, who boasts, yes, surely his pawns are also good at bragging like Mas Ade,” he said.
