ILO publishes new estimates on international labor migration



GENEVA (ILO News) – The International Labor Organization (ILO) will launch its third report on Global Estimates of Migrant Workers: Findings and Methodology, Wednesday June 30.

The report focuses on the evolution of global labor migration. It gives a detailed picture of how migrant workers, who constitute almost 5% of the global workforce, are an integral part of the global economy.

It also includes regional estimates for Africa, the Americas, Arab States, Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Central Asia.

The report and all associated documents will be under EMBARGO STRICT until Wednesday June 30 at 1:00 p.m. CEST (11:00 GMT).

For correspondents accredited by UNOG, a virtual press briefing under embargo will take place on Wednesday June 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. CEST (9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. GMT). Login details will be sent to reporters prior to the briefing.

Recognized regional journalists will be able to follow the virtual briefing via YouTube. The link will be sent in advance.

The findings will be presented by Manuela Tomei, Director of the ILO Working Conditions and Equality Department, and Rafael Diez de Medina, Chief Statistician and Director of the ILO Statistics Department.
