Robert Gesink crashed hard during the third stage of the Tour de France, after which he had to leave the round immediately. Geraint Thomas was also involved, although the Brit was able to get back on his bike after a while.
Thomas was the first rider to crash, after a moment of inattention. The British rider made a big impact and also took Tony Martin and Gesink with him in his tumble. For the latter it was immediately clear that the race was over. He was left with a lot of pain and then left the game.
Thomas also sat on the floor for a long time. Luke Rowe waited for his leader for a while, but seemed to think that it would also be the end of the story for his teammate and decided to continue his way solo. Despite that, Thomas decided after some time to get on his bike again, but visibly biting the pain. The Briton rejoined the peloton, but it is not yet known exactly what damage he sustained.
