The Civic remains a key Honda model in the European market. Its latest generation is the fruit of almost 50 years of successful history and provides practicality, comfort and attractive design, qualities with which it has always been famous.
What has become clear now is that the all-new Civic will be offered exclusively as a hybrid. Thus, the car becomes another model of the brand, which will be powered by the high-tech system e: HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) and will fulfill the goal of Honda all its leading European models to be electrically powered by the end of 2022.
The hybrid powertrain itself is interesting. It consists of a gasoline engine and two electric motors. The internal combustion engine gives energy to the first electric motor, which works as a starter-generator, and the energy from it goes to the second electric motor. There is practically no standard transmission. The gearbox has a fixed gear and the lithium ion battery has a very small capacity.
Imposed in the recently launched Jazz, Jazz Crosstar, 2020 CR-V, as well as in the recently introduced new generation of HR-V, whose sales have not yet started, and the positively rated hybrid system will offer owners of the future new Civic the perfect mix of fun driving and economy.
From the start of production of the Civic in 1972 until today, the model has been delivered to 27 million buyers from 170 countries around the world. The new generation with the hybrid system e: HEV arrives in Europe in the autumn of 2022 to continue this successful almost half-century history.
