Singapore start getting ready for new normal, consider COVID-19 as an endemic disease like the flu. A number of restrictions will begin to be relaxed.

“The bad news is that COVID-19 may never go away. The good news is that a normal life of COVID-19 in our midst is possible,” he continued.

“We can have similar results for COVID-19. We can’t eradicate it, but we can turn the pandemic into something less threatening, like influenza, ‘hand, foot and mouth disease’ (also known as Singapore Flu), and chickenpox. , and live a normal life,” they said.

COVID-19 vaccine is urgently

But that doesn’t mean giving up, Singapore has made a number of priority steps to get there. First, vaccination will be accelerated so that at least two thirds of the population will get a full vaccination on National Day commemoration, next August.

“We are ‘on track’ to achieve that target,” stressed the ministers.

Another step that is also a priority is to simplify testing, especially at the border to identify anyone carrying the virus, especially new variants that are wary of. Residents will also be allowed to do rapid test antigen alone.
