A total of 20,538 new infections have been reported in Russia in the previous 24 hours, and 599 people have died from Covid-19.
The incidence of Covid-19 in Moscow has continued to rise in recent weeks, with a similar trend in many parts of Russia.
Russia has the sixth highest number of infections in the world, but President Vladimir Putin has so far said that Russia is coping better with the pandemic than most other countries.
According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the new coronavirus delta, or Indian variant, is spreading rapidly in the capital, while the capital has almost coped with the original or Wuhan virus.
From Monday, June 28, only vaccinated, ill or those who have received negative PCR test results will be allowed to enter Moscow catering establishments, who will be able to confirm this with the relevant QR code. No such restriction is currently planned for public transport, sports clubs and hairdressers.
Sobyanin pointed out that, in fact, it would be advisable to visit catering establishments only for vaccinated people, because “the PCR test does not provide protection”, and has encouraged people to wear masks and gloves throughout the trip.
In an effort to stem the new wave of pandemics, 16 Russian regions have already imposed severe restrictions and mandatory vaccinations.
