Suara.com – NASA find a Neptune-like exoplanet that is relatively close to Earth and has water clouds.
However, these observations are still very early in confirming the presence of a water cloud on the planet called TOI1231b that.
“Future observations of new planet This will allow us to determine how common water clouds form around this temperate planet,” said Jennifer Burt, a scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Space.com, Sunday (27/6/2021).

The planet orbits close to its star and TOI1231b has a relatively cool atmosphere, around 60 degrees Celsius.
While that’s more than double Earth’s average temperature, Burt says, TOI1231b is very cold compared to other exoplanets, which typically reach temperatures of hundreds or thousands of degrees Celsius.
Para ahli berharap, dapat menangkap cahaya bintang yang bersinar melalui atmosfer TOI1231b, menggunakan teknik spektroskopi transmisi dari Teleskop Luar Angkasa Hubble atau James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) di masa mendatang.
Hubble juga akan mencari bukti adanya “ekor” yang memancar dari planet tersebut, yang akan muncul jika atom hidrogen atau helium terlihat saat planet itu melintasi permukaan bintangnya.
