Ukraine, due to blackmail, revoked the signature on the document of the Human Rights Council

Under the threat of blocking the supply of vaccines, Beijing forced Kiev to withdraw its signature from the UN resolution on the rights of the Uyghurs.

The Chinese authorities have threatened Ukraine to block the supply of more than 500 thousand doses of the coronavirus vaccine due to Kiev’s support for the document on the rights of the Uyghurs. About it informs Associated Press agency citing diplomatic sources.

It is noted that Ukraine on Tuesday signed the document of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, which calls on China to immediately admit independent observers to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The document proposed by Canada, in addition to Ukraine, was supported by more than 40 countries.

The agency, citing diplomatic sources from two Western countries, reports that after that Beijing warned Kiev that it would block the supply of at least 500,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine if Ukraine does not refuse to support the document. As a result, Kiev withdrew its signature on Thursday.

Earlier, US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland said that Ukraine became a victim of China.

We remind that a few days earlier it was reported that Ukraine signs a new contract for 5.325 million doses COVID vaccines with the Chinese company Sinovac.
