Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
A number of parties criticized the implementation of the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities or PPKM micro. The reason is that the policy is not effective in reducing the rate of transmission covid-19 in Indonesia.
One of the criticisms was conveyed by the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI). PPNI Chairperson Harif Fadhillah asked the government to be firm in dealing with the surge in cases of COVID-19 transmission.
He also asked that the government’s policy is not just a title and weak in implementation. According to him, the daily positive case record shows the government failed to control the pandemic from the start.
“For example, micro PPKM, is it implemented or the lockdown is implemented. Don’t call it PPKM, but the celebration is still there. The gathering is not disbanded,” said Hanif to CNNIndonesia.com, Thursday (24/6).
According to Hanif, the government must move quickly. This is because health workers, especially nurses in five provinces on the island of Java, are currently getting overwhelmed, due to a surge in positive cases.
He himself has asked for an additional number of health workers. Not only nurses, but also doctors, fields, nutritionists, to laboratory personnel. In addition, Hanif asked the government to also save the hospital. The problem is, many hospitals are starting to raise their hands due to lack of oxygen.
Then, there were 324 health workers who were exposed to COVID-19. Of this total, 24 people died.
Criticism related to the micro PPKM policy also came from politicians. Member of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives Netty Prasetiyani said micro PPKM has proven to be ineffective in reducing the number of Covid-19 transmissions.
Therefore, he asked the government to immediately implement a large-scale social restriction (PSBB) or total lockdown.
“Micro-scale PPKM has proven to be ineffective in restraining people’s mobility. As a result, the spike in Covid-19 cases is difficult to control. The government must immediately implement PSBB, even a total lockdown,” said Netty.
According to him, controlling the COVID-19 pandemic can only be done by implementing strict health protocols. If the government makes a half-hearted policy, the handling of the pandemic will not work effectively.
“People must be forced to discipline health protocols through strict and strict rules,” said Netty.
Similarly, the chairman of the PAN faction of the DPR RI, Saleh Partaonan Daulay, also proposed a total lockdown. However, the lockdown is only carried out on weekends.
“If I still push for a weekend lockdown. Because it seems that if the lockdown goes straight, I don’t think the government can afford it, but if it’s a weekend lockdown it can still be,” said Saleh.
According to him, the weekend lockdown will not disrupt the wheels of the economy. In addition, food distribution can still run normally.
“If it’s a weekend lockdown, economic activity will still run for five days. And actually, food distribution is still allowed even though it’s a weekend lockdown,” concluded Saleh.
For information, government data shows that new positive cases of COVID-19 increased by 18,872 as of Friday (25/6). This means that the total positive cases in Indonesia have reached 2,072,867.
President Joko Widodo himself has rejected the lockdown policy. According to him, the Micro PPKM policy has become the most appropriate in the midst of positive cases of Covid-19 which continue to break records.
