Reporter Jildou van Opzeeland saw a long line of people waiting at the Bitterzoet club in Amsterdam around midnight. “Many people have not received a negative test certificate in time because of the hack and are frustrated,” she said. “They are now doing rapid tests at the entrance. Anyone who tests negative can still enter.”

After 00.00 hours, the corona rules for clubs, discotheques and cafes were relaxed. Nightlife was allowed to open again after fourteen months and many people were eager to get back into the nightlife without having to keep one and a half meters away. They had to show a negative entrance test for that.
But Friday there was a delay in the Testing for Access test streets as a result of a hacking attempt, the Open Netherlands Foundation, the company behind the testing facility, reported. The attempt caused technical problems and long waiting times.
Eliminating backlogs
Hard work was done to eliminate the backlog, said Jasper Jansen of the Open Netherlands Foundation on Friday evening. “We have to enter a lot of data. How much is impossible to say. We are doing our utmost, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee that everyone will receive their test results on time.”

The 35-year-old Dieter from Amsterdam was one of the people who anxiously waited for a result. He had himself tested on Friday morning at 11 am in the center of his hometown, but had not heard anything by Friday evening around 10 pm. “My partner has already received two e-mails. I check my inbox every five minutes, but I have not received anything yet.”
And 25-year-old Sander from Amsterdam, who had himself tested at 07:45 in the morning, was still in uncertainty. “It is now ten o’clock: some have the results. I have not received an email yet.”
Tickets for 500 euros
The tickets for the show of DJ Reinier Zonneveld, where he hoped to go, were almost 50 euros each. His group of friends consists of 10 people, so together they paid almost 500 euros. “It will be exciting whether it will work.”
Paradiso informed people who wanted to attend the show in an email that people without proof of testing would not be allowed in.
