The Mitis Health Foundation has a new president as well as two new directors elected at the organization’s annual general meeting on June 16.
President of the foundation for nearly 10 years, Andy Guay has decided to step down. The Board of Directors warmly thanks him for his active involvement in the Board of Directors during all these years. Léo Caron succeeds him as president. He will be assisted by Annick Saint-Amand at the vice-president, Andréanne Benoît-Lagacé at the treasury and Louise Dufour at the secretariat.
Two new directors
The La Mitis Health Foundation welcomes Dr. Julie Samson, family physician, now retired. She has worked for 30 years in palliative care and the continuous improvement of this service in La Mitis is close to her heart. By getting involved in the foundation, she will be able to continue to take care of people, as she has always done in her career, but in a different way.
Bernard Tessier is a project engineer in the Canadian Hydrographic Service of the Maurice Lamontagne Institute. He is interested in the activities of the Foundation and had the desire to get involved concretely by joining the foundation team. A man involved in several organizations, he will bring his expertise and his desire to improve the local services offered in the region.
Nancy Banville, Mireille Bélanger and Alain Samson are the other directors of the organization. During the general assembly, the board of directors tabled the annual report and presented with great pride the results of the achievements and the financial results for the year 2020-2021.
A record of generosity
The annual campaign of the past year was exceptional. With more than $ 120,000 raised, this is double the goal initially set by the directors. “It was a year of challenges, redefinitions, innovations, commitment and above all solidarity. A Mitissienne solidarity which was very present and comforting for all the members of the Foundation. The figures speak for themselves, we have reached 170% of our target. Once again, the population of La Mitis was present ”, comments the outgoing president, Andy Guay,
The La Mitis health foundation team would like to thank Danielle Doyer for her excellent work as honorary president of the fundraising campaign, by presenting her with an honorary painting representing the watchtower she owns with friends in Sainte-Flavie. This property is listed as a heritage building in the directory of Quebec cultural heritage.
