The Minister of Health of the Nation, Carla Vizzotti, gives a press conference from the Benavídez Logistics Center, within hours of the expiration of the DNU that extended the restrictions against the coronavirus from June 11 to 25.
The official speaks from the center where the reception and control of 1,181,500 doses of Astrazeneca vaccines will be carried out. They arrived this Friday from the United States. With this shipment, Argentina adds 25 million doses to continue the Strategic Plan for Covid-19 Vaccination.
The Logistics Center is located on Route 9 Km 37.5 of Colectora Este Panamericana, in the town of Benavidez, in the district of Tigre. There the doses of vaccines against the coronavirus are stored between two and eight degrees Celsius below zero. In the place, the customs clearance, reception, thermal control, counting, fractionation and conditioning process is carried out, and then the vaccines are distributed among the 24 jurisdictions.
On the other hand, this Friday the validity of the DNU established by President Alberto Fernández ends. The Government analyzes how to continue, within the framework of the irruption of the Delta variant. Everything seems to indicate that the measures will remain the same, although with adjustments in the entry of people to the country due to the high level of infections of the strain originated in India.
Most likely, the restrictive measures of the DNU that extended the confinement that expired on June 11 will continue. This is indicated by the decline in recent weeks, with falls in hospital referrals in districts such as the province of Buenos Aires. There, the figure dropped to 32 percent.
Another factor that affects, tied to the Delta variant, is the risk of a third wave of the disease. The extension will be two or three weeks, with which the stretch would coincide with the start of the winter holidays, scheduled for July 19. Ergo, there would be no measures such as the reopening of interjurisdictional routes.
