Dahlan Iskan-Ari Soemarno bluntly asked about Ahok’s credit card

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia The statement by the President Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero) Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok regarding the corporate credit card limit of up to Rp 30 billion has been a public discussion since last week. Ahok also made a policy to eliminate the issuance of corporate credit cards from the manager level to Pertamina’s directors and commissioners.

Not a few people were surprised and didn’t even believe the statement about Ahok’s credit card limit, including a number of former State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) officials.

One of the reactions came from the former Minister of SOEs 2011-2014 Dahlan Iskan. Dahlan said he was surprised by the information. In fact, he considered the credit card limit of Rp. 30 billion unreasonable.

“Pak Ahok said that (30 m)? Did you quote wrong?” he told CNBC Indonesia when asked how he thought about the Pertamina corporate credit card facility that Ahok received reaching Rp 30 billion.

“I’m afraid my comment will turn out to be misquoted. It doesn’t make sense,” he added, Friday (18/06/2021).

Please note, CNBC Indonesia has asked Ahok regarding Pertamina’s credit card limit, even twice. Ahok also definitely answered Rp 30 billion.

“Yes, President Commissioner with a limit of Rp. 30 billion,” Ahok told CNBC Indonesia, Wednesday (16/06/2021).

Dahlan, who had served as President Director of PT PLN (Persero) from 2009 to 2011, also shared his experience.

Dahlan said that when he was the President Director of PLN, he did not use the company’s credit card. He only used his personal credit card and personal money.

“When I was the president director of PLN, I didn’t use a company credit card. I used a personal credit card and personal money. Directors could ask for a company credit card, but only for one purpose: paying for meals when we were eating with invited guests,” he said.

He said the company’s credit card should not be used for other purposes, including for hotels, golf, or airline tickets.

“Not for others. Not for hotels, golf, plane tickets,” he said.

He also considered that this corporate credit card facility is not a problem as long as the ceiling is reasonable and there are strict controls.

“The company’s credit card is not a problem as long as there is a reasonable ceiling and strict control from the finance department. So looking for a super chatty Finance Director is the most important thing in BUMN,” he said.
