NEW YORK – The United Nations (UN) accused Israel blatantly violated international law by expanding settlements in the West Bank and east Jerusalem.
The United Nations called the settlements illegal and urged Israel’s new government to immediately halt settlement expansion.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and UN Middle East envoy Tor Wennesland reported on the implementation of a 2016 Security Council resolution declaring settlements “having no legal validity.”

The resolution demands a halt to settlement expansion in the West Bank and east Jerusalem, lands that the Palestinians want to include in a future state.
