The Mayor of Anglet, Claude Olive presented the device summery 2021 of beach security. The monitoring period was elongated in order to secure as much as possible bathers.
Extension of the monitoring period
Due to the increasingly mild climate, the city of Anglet has decided to extend the surveillance period on Sables d’Or beach. Staff have been present since May 13 and surveillance will extend until November 7 on a daily basis.
- Sable d’Or: May 13 to November 7
- Petite Chambre d’Amour: from June 12 to September 12
- Marinella: from June 12 to September 12
- Madrague: from June 12 to September 12
- Riders: from June 12 to September 12
- Corsairs: from June 26 to August 29
- Ocean: June 26 to August 29
- La Barre: July 3 to August 29
The surveillance of English beaches in a few figures
80, it is the number of lifeguards who take turns daily to ensure the surveillance of the English beaches. To complete this device 27 Coastal rescuers, aged 16 to 18, are distributed over the 8 first-aid stations.
6 CRS are also present on the beaches of La Petite Chambre d’Amour and La Barre.
2460 interventions were carried out in 2020, an increase compared to the previous year (2,122 in 2019). Since the start of 2021, 140 interventions have already been carried out.
2 Jets-Skis and three pilots are available on the Angloys coast during the summer season.
The overall cost of the beach monitoring system, for the City, represents a annual envelope over 500 000 euros.
