The Moorea-Maiao district of the first degree has under its wing seven primary schools, one elementary school and one kindergarten (Paopao). There is also a CJA in Vaiare. That is to say a total of 2,182 students enrolled for 2020-2021, including 763 for kindergarten and 1,399 for elementary.
The evaluations presented by Ernest Marchal, inspector of national education (IEN) of the first degree, were made in April in order to better understand the passage of students in upper classes, after analyzes of the good and less good results established according to the fundamentals, namely learning French and knowledge of mathematics.
The presentation of these general results took into account three levels, the SG (end of kindergarten) the mid-CP and finally the EC (elementary courses) last level before the passage in the second degree (6e).
Without going into details that relate more to teaching techniques, whether in kindergarten or elementary, the levels are correct, even rather good. The evaluations for the nursery sections were programmed and analyzed by the local constituency while everything that is elementary was established according to national protocols as well as their correction.
As a percentage, the SG reading averages go up to 90% with the lowest rate of 42.1%, the same profile for this section in mathematics with rates ranging from 60% to 90% for the good exercises.
The evaluations of CPs in French, the best rates of good results go up to 64%, for the lowest to 5%. In mathematics, the rates vary between 80% for good exercises to 11% for the less successful. Finally, in CE evaluations, the average is around 50% (62 for the best and 43 for the worst). In mathematics, the same profile is 50% on average with rates of 62% for the best-treated exercises to 49% for the less good. If two subjects were submitted for assessments (French and mathematics), the Inspector of National Education recalled that all subjects are taught and are also assessed internally.
Regarding the Maatea school, which has been practicing parity in the teaching of French and Reo Tahiti on an experimental basis for two years, positive results have been noted, revealing that the learning of Tahitian for these students brings a better structure for learning French.
Maiao remains the problem of this constituency. “With a total of 42 students divided into two multilevel classes, two contract teachers share the work as best as possible”, underlines the inspector IEN, “but life in Maiao is such that the teachers, whether they are permanent or contractual , never stay very long and sometimes leave their post before the end of the year ”.
Patrick Albert, director of the CJA, gave some figures from the CJA of Vaiare, namely about twenty students enrolled for a three-year course. “We place here young teenagers dropping out of school that education tries to get back on track to return at the end of the course to a level of 6e, CFG (General training certificate) in hand for a possible continuation towards a CPAP (Polynesian certificate of professional aptitude) ”.
The municipality, for its part, recalled the investments made both in terms of school equipment and in the repair or construction of new premises, namely two newly built schools (Teavaro and Papetoai), construction of a courtyard in Maharepa and various works. catering for a total cost of around 40 million francs. Moorea is also the first municipality to have a school with optical fiber, that of Maharepa.
